O Algorithm Watch queria analisar o algoritmo do Facebook. Eles tiveram que retirar seu projeto de doação para a pesquisa para não serem processados pelo Facebook. Quando plataformas como o Facebook promovem determinado conteúdo e sufocam outros, isso pode ter um impacto crítico no discurso público. É sabido que o Facebook promove conteúdo que atrai muitos cliques e interações; algo que também se aplica às notícias falsas. Então, novamente, informações indesejadas podem ser suprimidas tão-somente se não houver responsabilização pública. O Algorithm Watch exige uma Lei de Serviços Digitais, que proteja a pesquisa de interesse público.
Não só as redes sociais, mas também muitos motores de busca retiram certos conteúdos do índice ou desvalorizam-nos. O problema é correspondentemente menor com os motores de busca, mas aparentemente também existe algo como a influência direccionada aqui no Ocidente. O autor procura regularmente o seu próprio conteúdo e cada vez mais conteúdo de elstel e de mim próprio desaparece. Há muito que deixou de afectar apenas as duas páginas controversas dos quais o autor primeiramente relatou, mas agora afecta quase todas as páginas do elstel. Já passaram muitos anos desde que o fundador do Pirate Bay, Peter Sunde, fez com que as pessoas abrissem seus ovidos com o seu artigo “I Have Given Up” (Eu desisti), e ele está a referir-se à Internet livre. Mais provavelmnete se pode encontrar algo hoje em metager ou possivelmente em entireweb. O Bing também censura, mas para eles leva mais tempo para remover uma página do índice.

When platforms like Facebook push certain content and stifle other, it can have a critical impact on public discourse. It is known that Facebook fosters content that attracts many clicks and interaction; something that also applies to fake news. Then again unwanted information can be suppressed readily if there is no public accountability. Algorithm Watch demands a Digital Services Act, which protects research in public interest.

The problem is not as significant with search engines but apparently there is targeted influence on search results also here in the West. The author of this page searches regularely for his own content and currently more and more sites and content from elstel and his own person disappear. It´s been quite a while since only the two controversial pages mentioned in my previous message linked from here had been obviously affected. Today it is about almost every page at elstel. It is also a long time since pirate bay founder Peter Sunde let people prick up their ears by his article ‘I Have Given Up’ which is about the free internet. Today, most likely you can find something at metager or eventually at entireweb. Bing does also censor but it lasts for them longer than for Google to downgrade or take a site out of the index.

Der Autor sucht regelmäßig nach eigenen Inhalten und es verschwinden immer mehr Inhalte von elstel und meiner Person. Es betrifft schon längst nicht mehr nur die beiden kontroversiellen Seiten, von denen der Autor zuerst berichtet hatte sondern heute fast jede Seite auf elstel. Inzwischen ist es schon viele Jahre her, daß der Pirate Bay Gründer Peter Sunde mit seinem Aritkel ‘I Have Given Up’ aufhorchen ließ, und er meint damit das freie Internet. Am ehesten wird man noch auf metager oder evtl. auf entireweb fündig. Bing zensuriert auch, doch dauert es dort länger bis eine Seite aus dem Index genommen wird.
We have extended our documentation on how to create chroots for the rpm based distributions Fedora and Mageia. Programs like dnf, zypper and debootstrap are nowadays available for most distributions which facilitates the chroot creation by users without him/her having to install a whole system directly on hardware. Furthermore we have reordered the docuemtation items in a more logically consistent way.
Besides this I am currently packaging lots of the software at elstel.org for different distributions. Where to find online repositories is issued under /software. We will apply for xchroot and possibly other programs to get included into Debian while we have updated the openSUSE package. Additionally I am planning to update existing packages more frequently though only direct download from elstel.org may at times yield the most ultimate new version.
Xchroot v2.7.4 implements some important bugfixes towards v2.7. Due to an apparent regression in sudo, xchroot as user appears to have been temporarily broken. At first I thought it was one of the configuration issues merely pertinent to my own system like the ssh user being deleted from /etc/passwd or some removed execution right of a shared library or /etc/init.d file (I did already tell whom to thank.). However as it seems this was in deed a regression of sudo. Can now be fixed by executing xchroot inst-root-sudo. The new and buggy mirrtmp behaviour of v2.7 has been temporarily undone defaulting to mntmp as before. Mounting of /etc/resolv.conf may be needed for internet access, mounting /boot/efi for installing the bootloader and initctl may help for systemctl suspend. new feature: minimal chroots featuring only a busybox: see 'how to create a chroot', last example.
