The deblive CD has been updated for many new programs and some new features: ddrescue, gparted, smartctl (hdd health), konversation (IRC), falkon (web browser), twinkle (VoIP), telegram (chatting), kdiff3, kwrite and wine. The programs to create own installs in pydeps have also been freshened: contrib + two blue ray support, improved dependency analysis. uniq-unsorted helps in extending existing copy and install lists. When booting via Grub there is an own menu entry for Flashrom now. The default boot menu entry is booted after 8 seconds now which is especially useful when the BIOS should block USB keyboard access. The first version of this scriptset has been published together with debcheckroot.
debcheckroot v2.2 supports file only repos: use --repo "deb /basedir subdir1/ subdir2/". That way you can also verify manually downloaded packages like f.i. your proprietary printer driver. Packages which have been purged or uninstalled are no more checked by default (config files may remain). Some file names in .deb ar-archives had a trailing slash which does no more irritate debcheckroot. debcheckroot does no more try to read /etc/passwd on --download-only. The --only switch may be left out by accident when verifying only from sha256sum-lists and debcheckroot still produces the necessary output.
important bugfix update: readout-parttbl did backup whole partitions instead of just the intermediate space if partitions did not have some intermediate space between them which is often the case for GPT partitions (not for MSDOS partition tables up to 1TB). Now it also backups trailing space after the last partition; to avoid this use --skipend. scripts/install now creates the man directory if it did not exist previously and sparsefile-restore has adapted inline directives for newer versions of gcc.
debcheckroot v2.1 has a feature to automatically continue stalled downloads (tune with: --retries, --timeout). Downloading is now also possible as user (i.e. not as root) which is important for Tails users. You may download on another machine than your root file system resides, use: --copy-config. The background color of yellow status messages has been adapted to also fit terminals with white background.
debcheckroot v2.0 has just been released. There have been many changes and improvements towards pre-release v1.99. The description web page has also been completely revised. In addition we have published a framework for creating your own Debian Live stick extensible with packages of your choice. You do not need to create or burn an iso but simply load an exisiting Debian Live (with or without additional firmware): see Extensible Debian Live.
